Lunch-time Touch Victory

The first lunch-time sports competition saw The Sports Class in the final against Room 2.  It was a fantastic game with an abundance of skill and speed shown by all.  The final result saw us winning. The team was Brent Rowe, Joshua Rowlinson, Tiopira Soti, Reegan Robson-Tonga, Corey Joyce
-apickering, Montessa Tairakena, Bailey Rogerson, Kaly Harcourt, Lily Rouse and Kiara tried very hard to stay at school to play but unfortunately had to go home sick (Kiara played a huge role in the semi-final to see us win very narrowly over a very talented Room 8). Well done team .

Triathlon

The Sports Class showed their talent and superior fitness at last weeks school triathlon.   Half the class enterd in teams and the individual event.

Huge congratulations to Callum Reed for winning the premium individual race with Jacob Houghton 2nd.  Very proud of you two.

We then cleaned up the team event with Brent Rowe, Joshua Rowlinson and Hope Moke winning the team event.  Coming in a close 2nd, however the first all girls team was Montessa Tairakena, Charm Atkins-Haddon, and Baylee Luttrell, and 3rd Tiopira Soti, Harrison Wacker and Ammaron Walker-Pitman (who also overtook Sir Corey on the bike).  Fantastic effort to you all.

Achievements

Congratulations to Montessa Tairakena (a member of the Sports Class) for her amazing achievements at the recent New Zealand Colgate Athletics Games.  She was 2nd overall as well as winning the high jump, discus and hurdles.

A huge congratulations to Kaly Harcourt for winning the 12 Year BMX New Zealand Championships and Baylee Lutrell 2nd place (both members of Sports Class).  They both qualify for the World Championships which are being held in Auckland in July this year.

Montessa Tairakena and T'neya Onehi-Karena (from the Sports Class) were recently selected for the Hamilton City Rep Netball Team.

Congratulations to you girls, we are very proud of your dedication and achievements.  Good luck for your next challenges.
